Error when trying to swap phones

It looks like my old Virgin Mobile (UTStarcom shuttle) phone is dying. It only works when plugged in. I'm trying to swap phones to a different Virgin Mobile phone (Audiovox CDM-8910), at least until I can get a better one. The phone that I'm trying to transfer my service to was purchased specifically for this type of situation. It has never been used or activated. Unfortunately, when I enter the (new) phone's ESN on the Swap Phones pages, it produces this error:

 

general_application_exception-Server.704:nms_exception: Server.704:NMS returned status_code=49, status_text=INVALID_PHONE_OWNERSHIP: Phone owner can not be PLBL.

 

Can anyone help with this?

Hi there, @walters777. As Virgin Mobile customers were migrated to Boost Mobile, you need a Boost Mobile phone to swap devices. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I spent over an hour on the phone with customer support today. Instead of fixing the problem, they deleted my account and hung up on me. (The service rep said he was going to fix the problem by deleting my account and recreating it.) Not only did I lose my number, I lost all the money that was in my account. I am absolutely FURIOUS!
